This project focused on designing a one-part, single-shot injection molded product.

The problem I chose to address came from my experience working on a factory floor, where I observed that workers frequently used foam earplugs but would often discard them halfway through the day—especially after lunch—and grab a new pair for the remainder of their shift. This pattern led to unnecessary waste and increased costs.

I wanted to design a solution that could extend the usable life of disposable foam earplugs from just half a day to potentially three to five days. To achieve this, I developed a product that helps protect, store, and maintain earplugs in a cleaner and more hygienic condition between uses.

While the initial focus was on industrial environments, the product quickly revealed broader applications. It could also be useful for people in music venues, gyms, motorcycle commuting, and motorsports—any setting where earplugs are frequently used and replaced. In fact, many people I’ve shown the product to have suggested their own use cases, reinforcing its versatility and potential appeal.

Because of its simplicity and low manufacturing cost, this product could also function well as a promotional giveaway—for example, as a freebie at events or brand activations—making it both practical and scalable.
